Outreach at Virginia-Highland Church Virginia-Highland Church participates in community outreach in many ways.
Intown Community Assistance
We participate in campaigns collecting clothing, food, and other goods
for this agency that provides support to the homeless and poor in our
neighborhood. We also raise funds for this and other mission projects
through an annual bake sale during the Virginia-Highland Summerfest and
an annual yard sale.
National and International Missions
We donate funds to the National and International Missions of the
Alliance of Baptists, Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, and United Church
of Christ. These funds go to support programs in impoverished
communities in the US and around the world.
Quality Care for Children
We participate in a partnership with this agency that provides
education and assistance to parents to ensure that their children
receive care in and out of the home that promotes healthy mental and
physical development. We have co-sponsored a Quality Play playgroup
which helps teach parents how to play with their small children in ways
that stimulate developing brains, and plan to offer classes on various
parenting topics in the future.
Shared Space
We make our facilities available at discounted rates to community
groups needing a place to hold meetings and events. Some groups that
have used our building include 12-step programs, preservation groups,
and religious associations.
